i have been thinking about purchasing the cannibal after income tax rolls in. i read in a magazine that it has a lower REV limit. is there a way to raise the REV limit to that of the other models? the cannibal is the only i might be able to afford so buying the other ones are out of the option.

I own one, but the 1000 lower RPMs aren't a huge deal. Stock it runs at 10,600 while the others run at 11,600. You could try fitting the Rev limiter on the other models on the Cannibal. They are practically the same quad except different colors, names, and mods; just like the difference between a stock 400 and a modded mx ready 400... same quad, if it is on a Moto 440 you can put it on a Cannibal (most of the time).

I may be wrong here but I THINK the early Cannibal's had an 11,600 rev limit, if I am wrong, correct me. I am sure you can still find one somewhere, maybe not after tax time though. YoDaddy, didn't you get an early one with the Ohlins?

The rev limiter on the Cannibal is 10,600 rpm. The Speed, Moto and Blaze is 11,600. You can go to your dealer and have them change it with the Pro/Cal software (if they have it, the dealer will definatly have the dealer/cal software, but you can't change it with that.), or you can purchase the software and cable and do it yourself.

I believe the older Cannibals which are actually FX400's had a rev limiter of 10,500 and the new ones, with the newer computer all have 11,600 like the moto and blaze.

If you got one with the olins it does not mean you have the older computer. They made a change to the seat screw, gas tank and lighter plastic on the new ones with the new computer.

Mine is one of the "newer" ones. If you look at pics, you will notice the older ones have black shocks with yellow spring, and the newer ones have the silver with yellow springs. There are other differences that you can't see in the pics, but mine is one of the newer ones.

Oh, never really paid much attention to the shocks. Well I guess I stand corrected.

Ltracerx, I noticed you live in Bend, OR. Have you ever been to Christmas Valley Dunes. If you have, is it worth visiting?

Actually the old Cannibals have silver shocks with yellow springs. They're the Ohlins shocks on the last remaining fx400's that got all the upgrades and Cannibal plastic. The rev limit has to do with the new computer it's not the same old rev limiter every one is normally talking about.
