Got the Cannibal
#1
Well Monday I got the Cannibal! After that I met my friend who has a 400ex and we went riding. The handling on the two is both about the same but the speed is totally different. We only raced about 50 yards because that is the biggest straight away around and I dusted him(he has a White bros. R4, K&N, and jetting). He said I killed him off the line and it was not even close, all he said he could see was my Holeshots spraying roost all over him. The second time I stalled(I just learned how to ride a clutch). He was about 1/4 of the way done when I got going, I shifted into third and flew by him again. This thing SCREAMS! It will wheelie VERY easily in third gear.
The engine sounds really funny like it is going to fall apart any second. A question I have for you is right by the bumper is what I think is the vin number. The last three digits are 236, so is this under the recall of the steering stem or whatever was recalled? I like the noise actually, it sounds completely different than the 400ex. I like how it starts really easily with the little green button, that set up is a lot better than the others. I would really like it if they would give the Cannibal a neutral light but that does not matter that much. I thought it jumped great with the Ohlin shocks. I got it used(just broken in, maybe 1 hour of riding)and the guy had set the front shocks really loose so when I did an endo I about broke my arms. I have pics I will try to post at exriders on my friend's digital camera depending on when he can get his email back working.
I love this bike and am happy I did not get the Raptor. I love the looks of that stock muffler so I don't think I will ever pipe it. This is one sick stock bike!

One more thing that pipe got hot as crap(does this happen to anyone else)! If you put water on it steam comes off, this did not happen to the 400ex. This isn't a problem for me but my friend burned his hand touching that shiny pipe..LoL. I hope it doesn't melt any plastic. How often should I change the oil for the engine? How often should I change the oil for the tranny? This thing rips!

CornDOg,
If I were you id read the manual... IT should answer any maintenance related questions you may have. As far as the pipe getting hot, which part? The front part of the pipe that is directly attached to the motor will for sure get hot, dont know about the silencer area, never wanted to find out..., but I dont think it sould be overly hot..

The Cannibal has Ohlins? I thought the Cannibal came with the slightly cheaper Arvins shocks on it?

Man, I don't see how you think it can start up easily. After it is warmed up it fires right up but when it's cold it has a little trouble with there being no choke and all. As for the pipe, I don't know of any quad where the silencer wouldn't burn you after you have been riding. My 300ex did it, my Dale does it, my friends 400ex does it, both of his Foremans did it, his little yamaha champ does it, and his little brothers KX 60 does it, another friends CR 80 does it, and I could go on and on. Thats normal man. You bought it new right?... well considering you had to break it in I suppose that is a yes. Those recalls where a while back, the dealers and the company would have already fixed that. They won't sell it with defective parts if they already know about it because that = lawsuits. As for roosting your buddy... that just put a smile on my face (memories of last week) It is a little overly rough in the trails and you can tell that isn't really what they had in mind with it. The shocks do work awesome, I managed to bottom out and it didn't even hurt to much. The rear shock reacts a little to quickly for me but I'm gonna adjust that. I need to adjust the head lights a little too cause they are too high. I cant see anything infront of me. I know this reply is really long so I'm just gonna say, I hope you have a lot of fun with your new dale and when you get some pics send them to me and I'll post them on my site. You can check out my Cannibal too. Later.

You're dealer should have performed all the recalls on the quad if you had one that was affected. Have them verify that. They are not suppose to even sell the quads until all the recalls were completed.
The exhaust should be very hot, hell yes it's going to be hotter than hell. In fact, after a short period of riding, your factory silencer will start discoloring around the center of the pipe, mine did anyway.
I would change oil in crank case and tranny on a routine basis. Keep in mind, these are high revving 4 strokes and need all the protection you can give them.
