Just talked to horizon motorsports in Sterling colorado and they have three of the "old" cannonbals left, and the guys will sell it to me for 6599, no freight or set-up, out the door. I dont have the cash yet, waiting for my tax returns, but he will put it under plastic in the warehouse for me for a grand down. I have a grand, he said the ohlin shocks are worth 1500 by themselves, should I go for it, I think im gonna. just posted a question new vs old forthis very reason. Any thing the old ones didnt ge the new ones have, besides mapping, he said he can do all of that for me, he has the computer. any info fast, THANKS!!

Just make sure the quad has the new EC1000 computer, you can tell that by how the start/stop switch is on the handle bars. The new aftermarket GP fuel injection system (which of course is better) the stop/start has a slide switch where as the older quads like last year's fx400 has 2 switches side by side, both momentary push button type switches. It should have the new computer!!

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago, the only real difference I found is that the old Cannibals have a different ECU and fuel injectors - model 500 versus the new GP 1000. I think they can still change the mappings but it's not the same as the new one. With the new system you can hook up to a pc and program, it will also hold 3 maps. Also make sure that the new ball joints where installed per the recall.
