How deep of water do you guys go through? The owners manual says 8" but that's not much. I know it's not a utility 4x4 but just curious.

I rode 40 miles of trails yesterday and had a blast but at one spot crossing a swamp on a tight trail I turned back just to be safe and had to go about a mile around to meet up with everyone. The water hole was probably close to 2 feet deep and 50 yards long. Everyone else went through with no problems, including my 12 year old on his Polaris Trailblazer.

We had
1 Trailblazer ( my son )
2 Sportsmen 400's
1 Scrambler 500 4x4 ( mine with the guy thats buying it riding)
1 Yamaha 3 wheeler
1 Honda 3 wheeler
and TWO98XJS on his new Grizzly - nice quad.

I guess I need to find some sport quads to ride with

I guess i've been through about 2ft of water a couple times. I was concerned as well, but hey, gotta keep goin! Didn't have any problem with the water, just with traction. Kept rockin it from side to side and stayed on the gas. Water'cannon!

Anyone else? I'd like to hear from other riders that have been in deep (above the footpegs) water. I plan on racing GNCC's and I hope the C'dales are not any more susceptible to water problems. It just seems to me with all the wiring, connectors, and sensors that getting the quad excessively wet could be a HUGE problem. What about power washing? Has anyone used a pressure washer on their C'dale yet?

Been to the car wash a few times. No problem. I didn't use full force around the engine though.

I use a power washer on mine with no problem, I just don't spray directly on the electrical components. I was concerned about the water mainly because there is no airbox and the filter right up front. I guess I just need to be careful splashing too much.

When i left my dip stick off oil got on the thick black tubes and the coat started to rub off, this just happened a little. Anyone else had this problem? I am paraniod(sp?) about this quad, that is the only thing i don't like about it. I was so mad when i flipped it!!!!

Hey Jay just wanted to jump in your thread and thank you again. Very nice quad!!! I wouldn't have taken my 400EX into that swamp either. Hopefully we can ride again soon. Maybe hit the gaslines up near your place??? Don't worry your secret is safe with me Chris

After that swamp I'm having second thoughts about getting rid of the Scrambler I may have to keep it for when I go riding with all you 4x4's.
My son had a great time too, mostly because he went through the swamp and I backed out.

I Know what you mean Jay. My boy loves to show his skills, and is maybe overly happy when I back out.
I believe I'm gonna have to plan a trip to Va and see about those special trails!

Come on up, just bring something waterproof to wear. With the small fenders on the dale, I was wet up to my waste and I didn't go through the swamp. Fortunatly, it was close to 70 and not the normal 30 degree January day.
