Going to make this short, went to ocala but we got a flat tire on the way. We could not get a bolt loose but eventually we did so 2 hours later we are back on the road. We finally get there and while i was changing my oil(earlier that day) my friend called me and i forgot to screw in the dip stick. Needless to say my dip stick was lost and oil was everywhere, so we drove the hour back. We finally found something that fit the place of the dip stick that night so we got up at 6:30 this morning and left. It was a blast and everyone was looking at the cannibal and asking me questions. There were some guys on Raptors there and they said the cdale was faster so that tells you something. Then bad luck came again, I tried to roost on my friends blaster and i flipped over and bent my handlebars. I was so sad i could barely even look at the cdale, so we packed up and went home. Luckily when we got home I found out the bars were not bent, the brake, clutch, and throttle just all twisted back so i fixed that easily. I can't wait to go back because Ocala was sweet!

CornDog, you say you lost the dip stick, oil was everywhere and then you found something that fit in its place! How do you know that you got the oil level back right without the dip stick? To much..BAD. Not enough..BAD.

it said for each oil change put 1.3 quarts in, so i put 1.3 quarts in. it should not be too much, but oil was still coming out. how bad would too much oil be?

Oil doesn't exactly run like water. It tends to "stick" on the sides and slowly run down. Think about every where in the frame that the oil is and then how much just a little layer all over those sides add up to. You prolly have to much oil in there. It's a damn shame that people won't properly maintain a quad... especially a $7000 one. You may have had fun then but when you mess up that engine, how much fun do you think you'll have?

my dad did the dirtbike thing back in his day and has a lot of experience with engines and he sat out there for a long time with me making sure we had the right amount of oil. he was not going to let that $7000 quad go out without the right amount of oil. the quad ran fine all day and i am not riding it again without the dipstick. we think the oil on the engine was from the day before. when we loaded the quads, we had to put the cannibal piggy pack on the A.C. 250 and he thinks some oil may have gone out of the overflow then. the engine ran perfect and i am getting a new dip stick before i ride it again. i am 99% sure we had the right amount in there.

What did you use as a dipstick? Pretty weird to not say what it is unless it was something stupid...

And it's kinda weird that one moment you thought your bars were bent and then when you got home they weren't...

If I flipped my quad... I know I would take a long hard look at the bars if I thought I bent them...

I'm no mech. CornDog but your probably o.k. Like you said though I wouldnt ride it anymore until I got a new dip stick. Realy I wouldnt have rode it at all. Any way I was just thinking about all the times I've changed oil in my quads. I always put the amount in that the manual says to. The manuals also always say to let the quad idle for a few minutes and check it again and add more if its low. I cant recall one time that I've put the amount in that it says to, checked it and it be spot on. Usualy it will only show up on the tip of the stick. Thats just me though. Ive always been told too much oil is just as bad as not enough, that too much will cause engine bearing failures. Like I said I'm no mechanic. Maybe some mechanic on here can tell us if this is true. It does make sense! I had a simular problem with oil running out of the overflow. I was told that it was from over revving the engine. I dont know what was done except that I changed the way I rode it and I havent had any more problems since.
