Ok, I'm taking my new speed to Glamis this weekend. One question is at 12.5-1 compresion ratio should I be running race Gas? Octane booster? Combo of pump and race? In Southern Ca. all we can get at the pump is 92.

Your thoughts

Shouldn't your manual tell you somewhere?

The manual calls for 93 or higher.

If you run race gas run something mild. Or run a 50-50 ratio. It won't run right without some re-mapping on 110 octane. The Nac's team is currently running on premium pump gas, so your definatly ok running 92.

i currently run 93 octane with maxima octane booster at a ratio of
1 1/2 oz. per gallon or 7 1/2 oz. per 5 gallons.
no problems to report as of this writing
no knock or ping either...just power and lots of it.

now you guys got me wondering, i run 91 octane gas. Here in Colorado that is as high as they sell it. At altitude, there is less oxygen in the air and thus the octane has less free oxygen to mix with and that is why they only sell up to 91, but does that corolate with Quads? For cars that is the genereal rule, once you get past 5000ft, the gas is 85, 87, and 91, instead of the usual 87,89, 93(amoco ultimate) Ultimate in denver is 91, but cars dont run 12:1 compression so I wonder what to do, any thoghts? Mine seems to run fine on 91, but I dont know nay better to tell the truth.

Race gas mixed approx 1 1/2 gal of 110 octane with 3 1/2 gal of 91 will get you to approx 96 octane. A good booster like Maxima is fine also. In the sand the higher octane is more efficient, letting the quad run much cooler.
