2001 FX400 question
#1
Anyone out there have a 2001 FX400? The reason I ask is because my local dealer has a couple still in crates and I am curious if they are the same as the Speed. What do I need to look for? I know the ECM would be the 500, not the 1000 on the FX400 and it has a cable clutch, not hydraulic...anything else? Thank you, JIM

There are some good reasons not to buy an FX, but I would be real interested in a GREAT deal on one of those. A dealer here is asking $5500 for a new one that has sat by the road for a year. upgrad the ECM, clutch, aftermarket a arms, +++ and still money left over. hmm.
I read that there were 144 changes between the FX and the Speed.

No, a lot of the changes are simply improvements, not recalls.
If it's still in the crate, not much has been done ! Tie rods, a arm ball joints, and maybe clutch plates would be the only recall items, i can think of, that they would have to do.

$5500 sounds like a pretty good price. The dealer will have to do all the recalls before they can sell it. Go ahead and buy it for $5500 and then trade it in to the same dealer as Special did with his FX400, he only paid $500 difference. So then you would have a brand new Speed and only spent $6000 for it!! Check out his dealer, I guess he bought his down in Louisiana.
