dumb oil question
#1
Okay,
I forget what the SF, SG, SL, etc, etc mean for motor oil. I figure they are the grade, but my question is that my Speed's manual recommends SF or SG 10w40 and all I found was SL. Is the SL exceeding the SF and SG and ok to run in my Speed? Common sense would tell me yes, but I wanted to make sure. I got some 85w-140 gear oil for the transmission....anyone have any help, let me know. Thanks, JIM

Just go with a full synthetic motor oil like Castrol's 10W40, this is what I run, at walmart it's like $4.30/quart. The neat thing about the Cannondale's is you can run automotive motor oils in the crank case. I would go with a full synthetic though, that will give you the most protection.
