What am i getting into?

I am thinking of buying my first Cannondale. Either a Cannibal or Speed. I see you guys talking about re-mapping your ecm. What are you doing? also do these machine's have low end power or do you need to keep them screaming? I went to Cannondale's website and the only difference between the two were Hydrolic clutch and handle bars, is that worth an extra $1000 for the Speed? I have to drive 2 1/2 hrs. for my closest dealer. Will I like this machine that much to justify the drive or should I look at another brand?

There are more differences that just the Tag bars and clutch, but it depends on when the Cannibal was produced too. Redline is 1000 higher, mapping is different, Ohlins shocks versus the lower end shocks that come on alot of the Cannibals, etc. Browse through some of the threads in this forum and you will find this topic discussed already. As for the question is it worth the 2.5 hour drive to own a Cannondale??? YES! One ride will tell you that. My 400ex was very mild compared to my stock Speed, it's great........JIM

I don't think you should have a worry. Cannondale is a great company, and will stand behind their product 100%. Alaska400EX is right. There are more differences between the NEW Cannibal and the NEW Speed. If you were to buy an older Cannibal(02 with Ohlins etc), the only difference would be the rev limiter. The Cannibals with Ohlins shocks are the best deal by far. Ohlins, hydraulic clutch, and all the other goodies that come along with all Cannondales.
Do they have low end? YES. YoDaddy's will run side by side, and then in front of my 250R in an 1/8 mile. It is VERY easy to pull the front tires off the ground in 3rd, and its not a hard task to pull them up in 4th. Every MX race I have watched YoDaddy, he has gotten in the top 3 on holeshot, against 400's, 440's, modded Banshee, 250R's, etc etc.
