Well I pulled the bull into the garage to give her a once over on the maintence, oil, trans. fluid, air filter, gas filter, etc. I pulled looked at the chin guard and I was not surprised to find it needed changing, so I undid all the bolts and ended up using some tin snips to cut it off and get it off, does anyone know if your supposedto take the chain off the change the chain guard? I obviously got it off but cant seem to get the new one on. So if I needto take the chain off I needa chain tool, any suggestions?
thanks.

Just take it off at the master link, I don't think you need a chain tool to do that.

Take a small screwdriver and pop off the little "plate". Sometimes they get stuck on there. I had to use a dremel and cut-off wheel to remove my master-link once.

Can you not loosen the chain enough to slip it off the sprockets and than move it out of the way? I've been using my own "custom" chain slide since I didn't want to buy a new chain slide every 10 hours, but I've heard the new ones are good so I guess I'll be buying one sometime soon.

i had to change the chain slider last Saturday. you have to flip the cdale on its side and unscrew the thing by the brake pedal to get to the screw holding in the bottom of the chain slider. major pain in the a$$!

Put it on a stand to raise it off the ground, then you gan get all 3 screws off with out fliping your quad over like weaniedog says.
Take the 4 rear sprocket bolts out and that will let you put enough
slack in the chain with out having to readjust it to manuver the new slider in.Take the counter sprocket guard and case saver of(2 screwes)and install new one.

Yodaddy,Hows your custom slider working? What did you use again?
