Ok, I've heard this has happend on some other bikes so what is the fix.

I was at El Mirage Dry Lake and racing my buds Shee and others DS. I was running it pretty hard and yesterday when I went to clean everything there was motor oil in the air filter and the box.

I'm going to check all the vents.
Change the oil,
Clean everything, Any other ideas?

Thanks

What kind of oil are you using? synthetic? 20w-50? When you put oil in fill it a 1/3 of the way up to avoid this. Kyle at R&s told me this is what they do to aviod that. It only happening when you are beating on your quad. It has only happened to me once.

Thanks for the info MXRACER,

SOmeone else, if I remember correctly, someone said that in the earlier motors they had this happen and something was changed internally to the motor.

Any other Ideas?

If you only fill it up 1/3 full, will that be enough oil in the motor? That just seems weird to me

Well when I first got my Cannibal. Kyle told me that you could never not have enough oil in the engine. When the oil heats up, it expands and he said that there could've been too much oil. Thats why they suggest running synthetic oil. Has anyone tried running a hose from the oil vent under the air box to somewhere by the frame?

This only happened to me once but it sure is unsettling. I had oil everywhere! That was maybe 40-50 hours back. I did pull the vent line off the back of the airbox (and plug that hole) and run it under the fender so I could see oil venting before the air fulter was saturated. I put a fuel filter over it, cause i didn't want to suck any muck IN. that line is behind(in) the airfilter for a reason. I wonder what path the oil takes through the quad? Anyway the problem has not recurred and i put it back.
It seems to me that we need to be very exacting when adding oil. With the multiple oil resevoirs , maybe it is more critical that you run the engine thouroughly before topping off. I did check/clear all vent /oil lines but found nothing. I prefer to think that it was overfilled, for obvious reasons.

so how did the drags turn out????

Ryanstones,

They didn't turn out as well as I would have liked.

The banshee is portef, Piped, double rate works shocks and Tuned very well.
The DS has Ron Woods complete exhaust and Rev Box, air Box mods and Jet kit.

The Speed is bone stock, no remap or pipe. It needs some leaning out of the injectors it is running extremly rich, and the oil covering the air filter, I'm sure didn't help.

Now about the Drags, My knuckle head buddies seam to think that top end is the only measure of a quads performance. So all the Drags where about 1/2 mile.

The DS, I got the hole shot and pulled him, He finally caught me about 20' from the "Finish Line".

The Shee, we stayed even though Forth and than he pulled me by Maybe 1-2 MPH.

I'm still not impressed with either of them. I do see a pipe and remap making both of them feel worse about thier quads.

I hope it was just an over fill but I doubt that as to this was the second ride on the oil and it was reading a little below the line on the dip stick.

Later

Wow 1/2 mile is more like a straight-trail-race than a drag race..

This happens in alot of quads when you ride WFO for, say... 1/2 miles at a time flat out. Froths up the oil.

Even with the Syn oil, I thought it was better than standard oil for that stuff.

My buds know I'll kill thier quads in the short race/track/trail/ anywhere else.

My 1971 F-250 outruns his Ram 2500 , and the other ones Chevy small block, easily. So dollar for dollar, I'm up about $40,000 on them.LOL

That was the situation when mine blew oil. I fugured you sand(ice) guys would report it too.

1/2 a mile is one mean drag. Sounds like you held in pretty good against those monsters!

Was your air filter completely saturated? I would suggest leaving the oil level a little lower next time and see what happens.

$40k up! lol prudent consumption of automotive products = less work
