Hey just curious, going to walden this weekend and am contemplating getting sand tires, but the wife would prefer not. How much of a difference to the paddles make. Will it be fun with out paddles?
thanks

With the stock hole shot tires, you will see a big difference in traction with paddles if it's dry sand, if wet, not so much of a difference. Some stock tires do pretty well in the sand, my Raptor performed well and I know stock 400EX tires do well also. The best bang for the buck on paddles is from rockymountainatv, I bought a set of the sand sharks, v-groove with rims for $145.

I saw that, but for 145 you only get .125 rims, are those strong enough? I weigh 190, but wont be getting any more than 4-6 feet of air.

If your concerned about the .125's, I think they will sell you .160's for about $10 more. I bought 2 sets on .160

Trout, There will be a few othjers from here at Walden for the Mem Day weekend. Me, Roostking, Disturbed660, DSjockey and probably others too. We had some discussion of tying a orange ribbon to our grab bars to identify each other.

By the way, The first time I went to Walden with my Banshee and knobbies I was not happy, I got stuck every where. Paddles are needed if you want to have any fun. There is plenty of flat parts to ride but many of the hills have no way out except back up the the way you came down.

I'll be there Sat morning as well... Need something orange to tie on though... Deadmans is always quite a show but I haven't been up to Walden yet this year so I don't know how cut away it will be from the stream (which may be dry alread???).

Trout, you're Cannibal will do fine IF you can keep the front tires down. Check my site under videos and check out the Cannibal running up ChokeCherry at St. Anthony dunes; very light front end on that hill.
