Bent steering stem
#1
Has anyone else bent their steering stem? I've been messing with the bar location for about a month now trying to find a comfortable postion...well last night I took a real good look at them. I thought maybe I didn't have the bars centered....only to find my steering stem is bent at the top. I took the caps off of the bottom of the handlebar mounts and measured down to the plastic. It's down about an inch on the right side after you get out to the end of the bars. It's not the bars, I took them off and measured, and put the stock bars back on to check it again. I didn't do anything to the quad either. I did rub a tree with the front tire, but nothing to bend the stem. The only way I've seen a stem bend is from a roll over. The 2 bottom bolts of the stem did come loose on me 2 rides ago, but that's about it. I'm really baffled on this one.
I do have a refurb'd Cannibal. Do you guys think I should push my dealer for a new stem or ask for a discount on an aftermarket one?

I've noticed something similar on my Speed. It looks like the left side of the bars is higher than the right. Then when I went to a dealer that had four Speeds in stock, two of the Speeds looked the same way as mine and the other two had bars that looked even. I don't know. I figured that maybe the bracket under the air intake that holds the steering stem was welded incorrectly and causing the bars to be tilted to one side. Just speculation though - I never really looked at it closely to try to verify the problem. I never gave any thought to the steering stem being bent. I'm not really that concerned about it actually. Kind of reminds me of my 250R - the lower bar mount of the steering stem was bent and it made the bars uneven too - almost exactly the same as my Speed.
