Cannondale just put out a new bulletin addressing the problem some guys have whith oil going into the air filter.Looks like it should take care of problem.I am not clear as to whether they are recomending that all quads get this done or what I havent had any problem with the oil unless I have rolled the quad and I think that is to be expected. Are all bulletins supposed to be acted upon?Who pays for parts? If in fact all bulletins are supposed to be done Why arent the parts for them automatically shipped to the dealer for every quad dealer sold?

They are saying that the problems tends to happen when the quad is subjected to race like conditions (high reving for long periods of time). So my answer is everyone should have this done. I know one thing it will make changing the oil a little easier since you won't have a hose to deal with on the bottom drain plug.

These bulletins are there to tell you that they are aware of the problem and have a solution for it. As of now it's up to the owner to ask the dealer for the updates if he or she wants them. So dealers my contact owners about the updates. I don't know. Mine hasn't but he does have the parts and is very helpful.

Cannondale pays for the parts.

My dealer (Valley ATV) carries the parts.

I'll have to talk to him about getting this update.

Knowsalot may more about this since he is a dealer.

I just called my dealer and ordered the parts kit, I looked at the diagram and it seemed easy enough to do on my own, do you guys think that its ok to do the work yourself?
thanks

The bulletins are just that......."bulletins".

To many here, it seems like Cannondale has alot of them, HOWEVER, the other brands actually have just as many or more than Cannondale. The Yamaha Raptor had nearly a dozen in it's first model year.

A bulletin and a recall are two different things, but with Cannondale, they work with you if you need the upgrade that the bulletin pertains to.

Everything regarding bulletins should be handled by your dealer for best results. If you think that your quad has a problem that is covered by an update, contact your dealer about a possible free fix. Usually, it isn't a problem.

Trout,
That's the best way to learn more about your quad. As long as you have the tools and some motor skills. Plus it'll save you some money in the long run. I feel if you can't work on your machine well then you shouldn't be riding it. Im not saying that you should be able to do everything (like bore, adjust timing, and the big things like that), but changing oils, spark plug, filters, and simple updates we all should be able to do that, if we what to save some money for the upgrades and other stuff.

I looked at the rerouting and it looks pretty easy. Looks can be deceiving at times. So let us know how it goes.

I rerouted the gas line on mine with not problems.

I looked for the bulletin and fix and couldn't find either.. What needs to be done?? Okay I found it. I can't get the picture to come up. Should I do this or will this be a free service from the dealer to bill Cannondale???

I performed the update myself, it wasn't that difficult, just kinda hard if you have big hands like me. i am dissappointed in the fact that i had to remove the gas tank, in order remove the "air box"-the one that goes around the steering stem. the changing of the hoses was the easy part, the hard part was getting to them. yes it is very easy to do yourself, i had my dealer order the parts and send them to me. havn't had any problems since with oil blowing into the airbox/filter. it took approximately 2.5 hrs to do it
