Well guys I sprayed the bolt with wd-40 and let it sit and then got some big vicegrips on it and clamped tham as freaking tight as possible and I ripped the head right off of the bolt! I am a little bummed, this is my second motor and the second time I have attempted to change the tranny fluid, first time no problem and this time it wont fome loose. Any suggestions now?

Drill it out! Can you put anti-sieze on the threads next time. I think you should take it to the dealer and let cannondale handle the problem. You will not be the only one to suffer thru this.

DAMNIT that does blow , my only suggestion get to the dealer have them fix it and then invest in lotsa anti seze coumpound . the only other way i see it is to try an ez E out . ues a punch tap the center. drill and try that ez E out method

I hate to hear that!! That really stinks!!! Man, I'll be seriously bummed if that happens to me! About like you are I guess. The entire bolt head is gone, right? I'd try the e-z out before drilling and retapping. Go buy a good one from Snap On, you don't want it to break. It should come out pretty easy. I've had to drill and tap a couple clutch cover bolts in my Warrior motor case. It isn't that difficult, but you're gonna' have to drop that subframe outta' the way. Lots of work in store for you. Good Luck and I hate it for you!

An EZ out is kinda like a dril bit/bolt thing, but with reverse action. First you drill a hole in the center of the bolt, Then you appy the EZ out bit. The hole will be alittle smaller than the EZ out so as you screw it in (counter clock-wise)and it starts to tighten up, The reverse action on the treads dig in and loosen the bolt. It wll only cost a couple of dollars for a EZ out bit. GOOD LUCK!

Take it to your dealer. I wold not try the to drill it out or the ez-out idea for a couple of reason.

1. remember the tranny filter is recessed in the bolt. You could damage it by drilling into it.

2. Metal shaving in the transmission.

3. If you drill the hole for the ez out you'll have to wait til all the tranny oil drains out the little hole you drill or you'll have a big mess of tranny fluid ever where.

If it was me I would call the dealer and tell them what happen and see when they can fix it.

The other option is find a good mechanic who has all the tools to do it.

If you haven't alright PM Knowsalot and ask him what you should do.

I called the deler and they said they would get it out and order me a new one, but I have to pay shop time of course. Oh well I guess I owe them the shop time for my mistake. Thanks everyone for your help

Trout- who installed it last with out anti-sieze? Does the factory put anti-sieze on them? Do you have to use a alum bolt?

I installed it last, and no I didnt use anti seize so its most likely my fault. I did talk to the dealer mechanic who is real good and he said the bolt has to be aluminum cause the engine is aluminum, which makes sense.
