Rear Rim Offset and Rim Thickness
#1
I need some help in choosing new rims.
First off, what is the offset on the cannibal rear rims? I know it's different from a honda, although the bolt pattern is the same (4X110). Any help would be great!
Secondly, these rims are going to be used just for the sand. I've already got an old pair of paddles I'm gonna use. Since I'll just be using them a couple times a year when I go to the dunes, I'm not concerned about spending the big $$$ on some real fancy rims. I was thinking about some Douglas rims, but what thickness? Can I go to a thinner rim (.125) and save the weight since the sand is more forgiving and no rocks to dent them? (.190) and they'll be heavier but more durable? Or split the difference and get the (.160)?
I weigh 185 lbs.

I dont know the exact offset of the rims, but if you order from Rocky Mountain atv and ask for Cannondale offset, they'll send you 400ex rims. They did it to me, because they say that 400ex and cannondale have the same offset but they dont. They end up being a 1/2 inch shorter on each side.

Rocky Mtn is saying that because they don't stock the correct wheels and don't want to lose a sale.
The stock wheels on the CD are 9x9 with a 6/3 offset. The ones RM_ATV will try to sell you are 9x8 with a 5/3 offset. MXracer is correct, the 5/3 wheels will make you 1/2" more narrow on each side. Same thing with stock Honda front wheels (but this is a good thing for handling).
I believe the stock wheels are .190 thick (equivelent of Douglas Red Labels, but not as strong). You can use .125, but they are very weak. If you do any jumping at all, you'll bend them.
For Sand duning, I'd suggest going with 10x9" wheels in 6/3 offset. Then run the 10" sand tires of your choice. If you're looking to save a little weight, but still remain halfway strong, go with Black Label Douglas wheels.
