I am a die hard two stroke fan mainly because of the power that a two stroke delivers. I ride pretty much only in the sand, and power to weight ratio along with total H.P. is a MAJOR concern with me.

You can see my rides from my sig.

I am interested in what Cannondale has to offer. Once again, I would only be riding it in the dunes. So here's my question;

How does a cannondale compare to a 250R as far as power, handling, etc.??

As of right now, I have close to 50 RWHP on my 88 250R. It has awesome wheelspeed which is what is needed for the type of riding I do. I really like the extremely STEEP dunes! The steeper, the better! Therefore I need lots of power, and ability for instantaneous wheelspin!

Many of the things I like to do are holeshots, and treeshots.
Most of the time there is only one way out.... the way you went in!

What kind of H.P. do the Dales put out?
What would be the best mapping for it?
How much to buy a Dale that suits my riding style?

Any and all info is greatly appreciated!

Anyone owned BOTH a highly modified 250R AND a Cannondale?
How do the two compare??

Thanks!

You need to talk to SANDGOD and BUDDA, they are brothers and have both a Speed and Cannibal as well as years and years on the 250Rs. They also ride alot of sand.

I have a highly modified R, it has an ESR 310 kit, Laeger ProTrax front end, PEP shocks, etc. along with owning a Cannibal with the Moto map and HMF exhaust. The R will outrun my Cannibal, out handle my Cannibal and weighs 50 pounds less!! Of course I have sank alot of money into the R and that is certainly not the case with the Cannibal.
The C'dales are the closest you will find power wise to compare to an R. Now if you were talking a stock R against a stock Cannibal, the Cannibal would out perform it but most people don't leave their R's stock.

The most impressive thing about the C'dales is the 2 stroke like power they possess. It doesn't have the "hit" a typical 2 stroke has but the power seems endless. Definitely take a C'dale for a test drive, either the Cannibal or Speed and see for yourself, you'll be bringing it home!!

I used to race the lesser 250r (suzuki) I'm currently racing a Cannondale Speed. The power and handle just blows the suzuki away. I had to sell both Suzuki do to the fact I wouldn't ride them anymore after getting on my cannondale.

If the cannondale is what you want look into the Glamis it's set up for dunes (comes with paddles). If you don't like the tires by the Speed (it's almost Identical to the Glamis) and just add the tires you want. If you want to save a little money on the machine so you can costumes it the way you want then go with the Cannibal.

If your looking for a new 2-stroke race set-up quad or a 4-stroke that is race ready for a more gentler price than the cannondale's take a look at this post on the GasGas Quads. GasGas Quad

Too bad their 300CC 2 stroke appears to be a lead sled!! 175 kilograms is 385 pounds, that's pretty heavy considering it's a 2 stroke. I'm assuming their 4 stroke will probably tip the scales at or over 400 pounds, that's just too much weight!

Your right that is heavy for a 2-stroke. I've been told the 4-stroke will weight around 10kg than the 2-stroke so it'll be around the 408lbs mark.
But remember the cannondale weights 370lbs and puts out 33-45 hp and the 2-stroke will push 50+ and the 4-stroke is in the neighborhood of 52-54 hp. So it maybe a little heavy but with the added horsepower it might not be noticable. We'll have to wait and find out.

My 250R weighs 328 pounds and it's pumping out over 50 HP so getting a 2 stroke down in weight is possible, too bad this gas gas can't seem to find out how to do it!!

Ok, so......
What kind of H.P. do the Dales put out (at the rear wheels?).
33-45 HP sounds like a pretty broad range. And are we talking at the crank, or rear wheels?

Like I said, my 250R is putting out close to 50 REAR wheel HP right now. I also run 9 paddle haulers with no problem.

I am not opposed to getting a 4-stroke as long as it has the power I need.

What would be the best mapping for it?

How much to buy a Dale that suits my riding style?
