First of all, I love my Moto! It is a bad ride, But: I have had electrical
problems from day one with this Quad, It will not hold a charge, I took it to the dealer after the problems started and there was a recall on my Vin#, they repaired a wiring issue with the stater, which also ate an eletrical
componet, and the battery. This was all in the May timeframe. It has run fine since then but I still have to leave the batery on a trickle charger which is not a problem but I do think Cannondale should be able to fix it. But now I cannot get It to start at all? Turn the key on, you do not hear the fuel pump kick on, and I have charged the battery?

Check the battery to ensure it is holding a charge. If the battery is OK, then you probably need a new ECU.

Also, pull the battery and check out the front of it. On some of the Dales, the front motor mounts rub on the battery and will eventually put 2 holes in the battery, shorting it out.

I will have pics and a fix posted tomorrow.

Hey,

I have a problem where mine is overcharging the battery until it is ruined. I leave my headlights on and have no real problems. If you have overcharged your battery to self destruction, it will still show some charge, but will not even think about turning the starter, or fuel pump.

Try putting jumper cables (NOT a battery charger) on it from your car or truck. if it starts and runs fine(until you take off the cables), you may very well have the same problem as me, its charging your battery too much.

MManiac- you have a problem that the dealer should be fixing. No question about it! As I just posted, I leave mine for up to 2 weeks without starting it and experience very minimal voltage drain- never been below 12.5v from sitting.

JCV- I noticed the other day it looked like my battery was rubbing the frame and was concerned about it. I haven't taken any corrective action, yet.

Blackbird- what's the charge rate yours is peaking at? The maximum is supposed to be 14.8 volts. The average range is 13.5-14.5V. It's supposed to be hitting that from 3500 rpm's on up. I'd suggest wearing ear plugs while you check it! Ever put your head next to a Cannondale motor while your holding it at high rev's??? I did, and you won't want to leave it there long!!!!!

NRATH,

I don't really remember how high it was, I think maybe 15 volts. I do remember that it dropped down a little with the lights on. I have no problems with the lights on, so thats the way I ride. It did blow one headlight though.

Motomaniac the charging system on a dale is no different than any other quad your dealer needs to not make things more complicated than they really are the first thing I would check is the grounds at the fuel regulator most I have seen this is the culprit.I would think if the ground connection is bad this could alsoruin your stator since the current is going to find a way to ground some how or it will heat something.

Default Cannondale Electrical problems????

motomaniac: I've got the same problem, or so it seems. What if anything did you figure out on your Moto? Or anyone else?
