Just got my new ride today WOW this thing is really impresive. I have been riding a Grizz for the last 2 years. Only thig i dont like so far is the Engine is really loud (not the exaust) I am hoping after some breakin the chain clatter in it will subside. The responsiveness is really incredible. Cant wait to get some hours on it. Any advice or things to keep an eye on?????

Get a bottle of Blue locktite and use it on most if not all of the fasteners.

Get a trickle charger and leave it connected.

Get some dielectric grease and lube all of your electricial connections, even the grounds.

Spend the time to learn the maintance routine for your quad.

Have fun.

Start to polish your frame and have it end up like mine. LOL

Damn smitty how long did it take to polish that thing and how often do you have to touch it up to keep it looking like that. I don't think i could do that to mine. I would prob. hesitate to ride it in fear of getting it dirty. lol

Don't worry about the engine noise. It is normal and it will not get quiter....it's part of the engine's nature.

It takes a while for most rider's to get used to the sound, but I really don't even notice anymore. After a while, you will see what I mean.

Follow the tips that smitty just explained. Do that and you shouldn't have any problems.

Welcome aboard.

Break her in correctly and change oil at the reccomended intervals (If not sooner.) And most important, clean your air filter regurlarly.

It could just be me, but I'm a P.M. ****.

Anyway, Welcome aboard and enjoy your new ride.

It took a long time to polish it but the upkeep is low. After washing it, I just make sure I get the water spots off. That's about it. I am taking better pictures today and will post them later.

Now the two side covers are polished, water pump cover, thermostat cover, more frame, I can't help myself.

After this season of riding, I hope to do a Frame off and send it out for polish and clear powder coat.

Cannibal,

Glad to see another Oregon rider. I'm getting a group of people together to go to Sand Lake this weekend. If you're interested send me an email: chadhamel@earthlink.net

I've got a group of about 30 local riders (mostly sport quads) and we try and get together as much as possible. This way, we can usually drum up at least half a dozen riders on any weekend for a ride. We even head up on Sawtell Road up out of Molalla in the late Fall and early Spring for snow riding. Drop me a line if interested. Oh, and there are two other Cannondale riders in the group, so they may be of some help if you have questions about your bike.

I second Smitty on most- Loctite, Dielectric grease, and maintenance. Go ahead and buy a few of the fuel filters. You'll need to change them frequently-manual says 5 hours, you'd be stretching it to get 10.

Exceptions are:
1) Don't loctite the thumbscrew for the seat. I did and the next time I took it out, it unthreaded the insert from the plastic seat pan.
2) I haven't had a need to trickle charge. I frequently will only get to ride every other weekend and I check battery voltage frequently. It has never gone below about 12.50 in a two week period without starting the quad. Neither JayBr or I have had a problem.

The motor noise is a bit obnoxious if your coming off a Japper. You'll get used to it. It's a sweet sound, though, when you stab the throttle while your riding. I think it makes up for the noise at idle. And, yor not likely to hit neutral when the motor is running. Your only chance is to try before you come to a complete stop. After that, you may as well shut it off! It's because of the strong clutch they had to put in for that Strong motor!! You won't find that many clutch plates on a Japper!

Enjoy!!!
