Default noise from lower end?

i had my stud update done a few weeks ago. shortly after i was out riding (hill climbing) and a noise started to come out out of my lower crankcase. at first it sounded like a branch or a piece of metal was jambed in my rim and scraping as it rotated but i could feel a knocking by my left toe so i shut the engine down. i started it up a few minutes later and the same problem. i towed it back, trailered it home and now it is fine. i have put a couple of light hours on it and all is well. any ideas?

If you felt a knocking by your toe, I'd have to pull the engine and side cover and see what it was. do you trust the mech that did your update 100%?

yes i think he is pretty competent. but even if a bolt vibrated loose how could it be knocking one day and fine the next?

A loose bolt might have found an outta the way spot, til you hit a big jump or something and then...
I don't know man, do you have skid plates that might be vibrating? or a engine cradle bolt loose maybe? Did you just imagine it? The 'dales are darn near impossible to diagnose by sound, that's sure. I'd go over the whole machine for loose bolts on the outside then decide your risk of an internal problem. my .02

there is no doubt about the noise it was real loud real bad. i was sure i trashed the clutch basket or the lower end. it was right after 3 hours of some serious hill climbing. your name seems familar did you just get back from h/c?

That kinda noise is scary, I'd have to rule out all possibilities.
