I live a block away from a horse trail... also posted as Los Angeles Fire District... Where I entered it wasn't posted (wink wink) but I know better. Anyway, I'm curious what the fine is for riding there... I've heard it's ~300?? I suppose that's not worth it.. I also know that you can get a permit from the fire chief (ok I am dreaming there). I' have to look at the trash on one of the hills from my front yard... I was thinking about riding up there and cleaning it up... but it's prolly not worth ~300 bucks... Anyone had a runin with the LAPD or LAFD before?

 

Why not go them and tell them what you are wanting to do---clean up the place---and get some sort of permission.

 

I would second rook's advice. I would start at the local firehouse and ask them to see what you need to do. If you were just up there cleaning and not tearing the place up, they'd probably have no issue as long as you have a USFS approved spark arrester (which you must in CA anyways.)
