Someone please help me understand this?? Indiana law now states ANY atv purchased after December 31st 2003 MUST be registered. What kind of sh*t is that. Last time i checked, an ATV was considered off road vehicles. And now they are requiring you to register it. I can't even ride (legally) on county roads in my county. And then I'm going to have to pay property tax on it to boot Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying the 30 bucks every three years as long as it goes to good cause. Maybe some state riding areas?? What is there a whole 1 in the state of indiana. Guess I live in a bad spot. All the places to ride in Michigan are all up north and all the places in Indiana are down south. Anyone in Northern Indiana that has places to ride and is looking for riding buddies...let me know...

 

This is the first I have heard that they require you to register. I knew it was going up to $30.00 for 3 years but you also get to include and
I think they use the blue book value for the property tax value. My total was about $80.00 last year without going and looking at the statement. How I use mine in some ways would be equal to a small lawn tractor around our place and why aren't they required to register?

 

I guess this is one area that Ca. isn't screwed up in. You only need to register your quad through dmv if your going to trailer it to another location ie. friends property or ride on public lands. We have alot of public riding areas in Ca. We pay only $20. every 2 years and there are grants out there that is also funded from the registration fees. These grants pay for riding area improvements purchasing more land to expand our riding areas, law enforcement, etc. DMV fees for our vehicles are another story.
