A point that should be relized is that banning ATV's from wooded trails will not stop the erotion. If you look at trails that have been cloused year's ago still exsisted. The beaten path is still there because of the foot and MB bike tire causes erotion. If you visit a baned trail you will see that hickers walk side by side insted of singel file, and you will fide energy drink can's and power bar wrapers litering the trail.I think if they where included you would find that the same people that are tying to get these land's cloused would start to clouse there mouth.

HORSES are big out here in some areas (maybe in Texas too?). Nothing hacks up a trail like a horses hooves can (not to mention what else they leave behind), yet a horse can be ridden in a wilderness area or national park, where you couldn't even ride a mountain bike.

I'm a hiker and ultralight backpacker, so I probably put on more trail miles every year than any Sierra Club member. But, you have to face it, our trail system is available to only A FEW ELITIST INDIVIDUALS who are FIT ENOUGH to walk great distances at high altitude, or are WEALTHY ENOUGH to afford horses (and a huge smelly diesel truck and trailer to haul them around in!).

i gotta agree, i have never seen a dirtbiker or atv rider stop to throw their garbage on the ground, HELL its a stupid act in the first place. most ATV and dirtbike riders pull off to eat and drink and its no big deal to throw our stuff back in our bags and continue!!

Freekin health nut peeps, pickup your garbage already!!
