ss97,
Thanks for the support. I knew that the odds were against me when Ibought my ATV but non the less, I enjoy vehicles and there are some local places I can still ride. As a parent, it breaks my heart to hear about children getting killed and I try to put myself in the shoes of the parents who suffered the loss. I do my part in keeping myself and riders around me safe and it's a shame that fatalities occur in this sport. Actually, the public sector has made it a free-for-all without even considering the sportsmanship necessary to keep it alive so calling it a sport isn't really appropriate in most cases. I wish everyone a safe ride and thanks for reading.

The bad eggs always get the press. Its time to stand up and demand coverage and build a front group of ATVr's who PICK **** UP on the trails and Not Just B!tch about the litter. When im out riding on public land or whatever and i see cans and crap scatterd i pick it up. whatever i can reasonably carry. if every good ATVr Picked up 1 can everytime they went down the trail. prolly wouldnt be much for the eco ****'s to B!tch about. Just my 1 cent worth

I agree with you guys in here.
I wish you guys that posted about this topic would take the time to visit the Honda Forum and go to a heading''HOT PURSUIT''..
You should see the amount of kids in there that think its perfectly ok to run from the law, litter,or do whatever THEY feel is right on their ATVs with NO regard to the ATV laws of their land. They need to hear from some verteran riders like yourselves..I gave some of them hell in there, and rightfully so.

You were making the comparison of the regulations and rules gaining a foothold to boiling the frog.
you know, i dont know why you insist upon arguing over something that i mostly agree with you on. im not against regulations. in fact, im for them. the issue i have is that we have them on the books already (laws) - why do we need more? What we need is the ENFORCEMENT of the ones we already have. there are already laws about who can ride, how to ride, where you can ride (not the street) and to NOT ride under the infuence of alcohol (as with any motor vehichle).
What you conclude is that you want government to step in and take the reigns and maker even more rules...which is supposed to make it better?
Operating any vehicle under the influence of alcohol is something that absolutely cannot be allowed. When the beer cans are beyond the wood line by 2 miles and the knobby tire tracks are all around the camp fire pit, who do you think brought the beer there? So there, you have a reaction(losing the privilege to ride) from an action(acting like an a-hole) and it's no more complicated than that.
You are sadly mistaken about having the right to ride because you don't.
Young riders being killed from inexperience and a machine that simply goes too fast for their young minds and bodies to handle isn't a-kin to keeping one's head in the sand.

I am subscibed to 6 land use topics, and have not been notified of ANY replies. I tried to post land use topics on "Puget sound Seattle riders.meet here" and have been bomarded with the realization that most members (in this area) seem to only care about thier NEXT ride- Not the fact that thier riding areas WILL be disappearing if they ignore the threat! 20characters,
I understand what the lesson is and I'm not arguing. I want you to tell me how you'd defend your position on ATV trail riding when there is alcohol consumption, tresspass, fatalities, firearm use and perhaps while being under the influence, fleeing to avoid arrest and boasting about it. You really must take a step back and read these comments more objectively. No, the government is not my mommy and daddy but is there for the people who desperately need that guidance and many do in this sport. You seem to freely speak out about the attacks on negativity in this sport and I struggle to understand why. I can only imagine why this is a sore spot with you. We need less of, "Yea, I ran from that cop too" and, "The cops up here are all a$$ holes", "I can carry 15 cases of beer in the cooler I made". Do you think these forums are off limits to the politicians? These guys(politicians) are Ivy League graduates who forgot more than we'll learn in our lifetime and definately know how to access the internet. Beside that, the internet was designed by the United States Federal Government to establish an information source and communication link throughout the world for military purposes. I really don't think that the Federal Government will place questionaires in Drit Rider magazine when gathering information about ATV usage. Incase you haven't noticed, I AM being a squeaky wheel and starting at the level where it means the most. If my comments reach and influence the behavior of one rider, it made a difference. I challenge you to speak out too, that is if you are truely apart from the perpetraters
