ATV's Riding on Groomed Snowmobile Trails????

Just wanted to see if anyone out there has any experience riding on the groomed snowmobile trails in the winter. If you have what tires did you run. I was thinking about using my paddles. Help me out......

i dont know if there is an actual season change where the snowmobilers have exclusive rights

i think he just means packed down and firm (by the sleds) when he says 'groomed'

i usually stay away from the deep snow,,,,,,the 1st snow, however,,,,is pretty fun

One fly I have your answers first off most us forest service roads in the cascades are closed to all accept snowmobiles in the winter, second we took my 4x4 and 3 banshees to mt adams on the groomed trails and roads and it is not legal and really will piss off snowmobilers because quads rip up the groomed trails. We learned this the hard way. Also there are groomed trails that aren't roads and are some times atv trails that are closed during the winter. My grandpa works for the usfs in montana and grooms trails by cleaning up them with a chainsaw. I like the idea of tracks and ski but I bet they won't let you get away with it, plus it is probably cheaper to by a used snowmobile.

i ride on the groomed trails all the time here in idaho. i have no idea if it is legal. i've asked alot of people and no one has given me a straight awnser. i cant see how atv's damage them all that much. sure if the snow is soft of half melted, but a good packed groomed trail, atv's hardly leave a dent in the snow. last winter i was jsut running the stock tires on the foreman and this year i have a new set that is 2 inches wider than stock. I have a hard time seeing how it could be illegal to ride on the groomed trails when it causes no damage. with the fourwheeler i can jsut get on and ride straight to the trails. if i wanted to use my snowmobile i would have to load it, drive, unload, and then hope it starts. i jsut cant see how they can groom the snow on a public road and then close it to everything but snowmobiles...
