i ride over planted crops all the time but they are on my own land and it is usually to check how wet it is to see if we can spray or to check what kind of weeds are growing to spray for. it is done when the crop is very young usually and doesn't hurt anything but i would never think of driving on someone elses crop. and it isn't just the younger crowd doing it either Lon not all the older people are responsible and not all the younger people are irresponsible.

No doubt about it - you make a valid point saying not only younger guys act irresponsibly. The article pointed out the younger crowd in specific - so I piled on. But that does not excuse it. It's been said a thousand times on this forum - we need to be respectful and follow the rules. Our lobby isn't strong enough to elude further restrictions and the guys that continually break rules or the parents and children that ride without regard to safety continue to bolster the cases of those trying to restrict our hobby and freedoms. In fact, they make great examples of what not to do.

Most of the farmers leave enough space for you to ride around the crop. On the occasions that they don't we've always found another way around. It's just common respect not to destroy people's money. Once again morons give us a bad name.

I think everyone here agrees that there are irresponsible riders out there... so let me ask a few questions then... what do you think should be done to them to make them stop? What have you personally done to correct this mis-behavior? and what do you expect from the authorities when they are asked to react?
Just wondering what everyone's opinion is....

i agree with a very very stiff fine cause they are messing with peoples liveliehood and profits. we never had problems with people driving on our planted crop but we have had people drive on haymeadow along the fenceline hunting partridge but that doesn't bother us cause the hay is off and they aren't hurting anything. and it is just our neighbors and we drive through their land hunting to it is nice to have good neighbors. i do strongly oppose the idea of ever taking anyones atv away from them unless they are a multi offender and cause alot of troubles. maybe if they do take away the atv whatever they sell it for take the money out owed by fines and give the rest back to the owner and forbid that person from purchasing an atv. i dunno kinda thinking outside the box there.

yeah i know right, if your cutting through some private land, if you do it, atleast be respectful and dont ruin there crops cuz maybe we wouldnt have these riding problems now. QAnd to the few nice ppl who dont mind us riders goin through there property but without damage, thanks and sorry for the idiots out there, its not all of us who do it...if you ppl wanna tear something up, why dont you tear up the road and do some smoke shows or something...obviously a atv will destroy crops why do you need to see that dfone more? how would you li8ke it if the farmner lit your wheeler on fire or something?
