Any idea what we must do as Americans to remove our corrupted government and set it back on a proper path? I just don't see how we can vote out all these corrupted politicans since the local people keep voting these politicans back in power. I shudder to see what the future holds for the American people.

I am a veteran of the Iraqi freedom war and was in the army through the lies that went from "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction", to "we are freeing the Iraqis". When the decision was made to go to war with Iraq, I, my fellow soldiers and many of my superiors were wondering what the Hell we are sending our troops to Iraq for. I have written a letter to the white house asking to just let me and my fellow troops know why we went to die in Iraq, and no response. I am truly worried about our country and what has become. This anti freedom has slowly crept up and now people are starting to finally realize it might be too late.
I hated that when I was in Active Duty I could not point out the injustices against the constitution and the American way with out fear of prosecution. Every thing I do in life is controlled by laws that don?t allow any room for freedom. I wish I could make my own safe decisions without basing them on fear of what the government will do to me.
I wish we, as American citizens had the ***** that children have before they are misguided into all this crap.

As a retired service member that also saw combat time in the first go in the gulf, and currently am a consutant to the Department is State, I have mixed emotions on the previous comments. First off, as a service man, we are taught to salute and follow orders. The time to question comes after the hostilities have ended. That being said, I also believe there is a lot to answer for when the dust clears. Your examples are relevant, and personally I doubt we will ever get a true and acurate accounting. Our leaders will have to live with it. Funny thing about history. Eventually all the dirt is made known...
I also have a great compassion for the current crop of young men and women that are serving our nation. Although many may say the life is easy, and our benefits are great.. the reality comes to sharp focus when the spouse sees that military vehicle pull in the driveway with a letter from the government sending ther condolences for losing their loved ones in a far away place. And oh by the way, you have 30 days to vacate your government housing unit so someone else can fill the spot of worry.
I do not know what the answer is. I doubt anyone who has not lived it does. Certainly, I put even less faith in the media and the spin doctored reporting that you see nightly on the news. I think if we had term limits for congress leaders like we have on presidents, we might find their actions to be more prudent instead of the power mongering we see daily. One only has to look at the incoming Democratic speaker of the house to see a textbook case of personal politics over national interests...

What country am I living in again???
U.S. civilians can face military trials
Jan. 15, 2007 at 10:31AM
A last-minute addition to a federal spending bill at the end of the last U.S. Congress now makes civilians eligible for military courts-martial.
With the addition of just five words, the provision sponsored by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., was signed into law by President Bush, and makes civilian government employees and journalists eligible for prosecution under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the Washington Post reported Monday.
"Right now, you have two different standards for people doing the same job," Graham said. "This will bring uniformity to the commander's ability to control the behavior of people representing our country."
Legal experts say the change will likely raise constitutional challenges, as civilians prosecuted in military court don't receive a grand jury hearing and are tried by members of the military, rather than by a jury of their peers.
Until now, civilians could be tried under the military code only during a declared war, but neither operations in Afghanistan nor Iraq involve such a declaration.

You're living in neocon America where legislation is used to remove civil rights and military force is used to spread petrodollars to keep us financially afloat with debt your children won't be able to service.

I didn't read the article, and I don't know what all this means, but as a person who used to be subject to teh UCMJ and military law, I can say that I would fear that. In the military justice system, you are guilty until proven innocent. A big difference between that and the freedom we enjoy today.

Interesting facts:
1981?1989 Ronald Reagan (vice president George H. W. Bush)
1989?1993 George H. W. Bush
1993?2001 Bill Clinton
2001?2009 George W. Bush
2009-2017 (Hillary Clinton?)
If you include George Bush Snr's vice presidency, this could end up being 36 years of presidential nepotism! Time for a change, maybe?
Interesting that a Nixon, Dole or Bush has appeared on all but one of the last 14 Republican presidential tickets:
1952 - Eisenhower/NIXON
1956 - Eisenhower/NIXON
1960 - NIXON/Lodge
1964 - Goldwater/Miller
1968 - NIXON/Agnew
1972 - NIXON/Agnew
1976 - Ford/DOLE
1980 - Reagan/BUSH
1984 - Reagan/BUSH
1988 - BUSH/Quayle
1992 - BUSH/Quayle
1996 - DOLE/Kemp

Such a sensative issue to be addressing in this forum. Here's a great solution, and possibly what exactly will happen in 2009. The Libs/Dem will take office due to their over whelming influence on the drive by media. Because once you take Iraq away they have nothing truley to counter. Here's what they'll do.. Negotiate a troop withdraw, with the relief of economic sanctions (as a way to say were sorry, please don't kill our people anymore O.K.) How many times to we have to hear them ( Islamic Extremist) say "We have only one purpose to destroy the nation of Isreal and all who support them (US). But for some reason, after 50 years of directed terrorism we still don't believe it........ Here's a bright idea let's negotiate with terrorist, I'm sure they'll be sentimental to our sensarity of heart....
Has anybody heard of a true, believable, accountable plan from Hilary (or any Dem) no....And you won't, you'll hear political retoric and that's because they have no plan...... If we win the war in Iraq the Democratic party is done; and they know it.... Watch you'll hear nothing but Iraq (global warming) that's all they have......Oh wait, they'll even talk about a stronger more invigorated, committed United Nations to attack the evil.. What an already impetent, corrupt piece of structure that is.......
Alright I'm done, got it off my chest.......Fire back as you may, it's still a free society for now..... Brush up on your Koran.....

I do appreciate the number of ???????????????????? you put in your statement/information brochure. I personally can't think of a better thing than a western democracy in the middle of the Islamic world who seeks our destruction and way of life. And isn't it apparent they will do anything to any extent to ensure we don't succeed. If you put enough blood and media out there, they know the American people will fold (just like wer'e doing).. And here's how ignorant we are... The're not going to stop......Just watch....... Havn't you ever heard of the Liberal media ???????????????? They will let you hear what they want, and how much of it... You'll never hear of any successes....... Oh I forgot, Because things are headed the right direction in Afganistan (with plenty of work to do) the Libs are trying to take responsibility for the success in that region...Because it's safe, safe is nice, and warm and comforting.
