Senator Abel Maldonado ( R-Santa Maria) A REPUBLICAN!!!!! has proposed SB 1228 which will place age limits on children operating ATV's on public lands in California- The age limits will follow the CPSC guidelines- 70cc max to age 12 and 90cc limit to age 16. Please write to Senator Maldonado or your senator soon to stop this misguided bill from becoming law.-This law has no exceptions for physical size or experience of the ATV rider. You might as well forget riding in California with your kids unless they don't mind riding undersize and underpowered quads. The first hearings on this bill start on March 25 2008 so don't delay!!!!Oregon ATV groups were recently successful in blocking a similar bill (ORE SB 49) so we California riders should organize and stop this bill from becoming law in our state.

 

Im from Michigan and have NEVER agreed wit the CPSC guidlines,especially for TODAYS bigger and stronger youth. I will write the senator soon and request a rejection of this Bill.

SB 1228 Why? This law has no exceptions for physical size or experience of the ATV rider. 70cc max to age 12 and 90cc limit to age 16. A 13,14.15 and 16 year old child cannot physically fit in/on a 90cc atv. its too small of an atv. This will be very dangerous. Unsafe.
Senator Abel Maldonado ( R-Santa Maria) does not seem to know what he proposing. examble. How can you make a child that is 16 years old to fit into the pants of a 8 year old. For the majority of all sixteen year olds this will be impossible.

 

The truly disturbing thing is that legislators believe they have some sort of authority over such matters. The size and the extent of control that people are allowing their governments to have is simply stunning.

American government was established to secure Liberty. Not to nanny. Not to rule. To secure Liberty. Any actions are contrary to that original directive are fraudulent, tyrannical and evil and must be opposed.
