Default 25 mph limit on WI Lakes

I just learned that the Wisconsin DNR is proposing a speed limit of 25 mph for ATV's and snowmobiles on lakes. I guess people were having too much fun going full throttle over vast expanses of ice. Admittedly, varying snow depth can pitch ATV's, and on rare occassions a snowmobiler has crashed into ice heaves. However, this type of ludicrous over reach gives the DNR a bad name. Public input is being sought at the spring meetings of the state Conservation Congress to be held Monday, April 9, at various locations around the state. Locations are listed at http://dnr.wi.gov/org/nrboard/congre...0locations.pdf. If you ride in Wisconsin, get to a meeting and give your input.

Must be a suck place to ride if there is even a witness to know if your speeding or not.

Were we ride you could be drunk and naked and not be bothered by anyone.

25mph, especially on snowmobiles is ridiculous. I can see it in areas where the trails goes by someone's house or something like that but for open riding it's just more of the "we know what is best for you" mentality that government seems to have these days.
