Cyber attacks by whom???
#1
I'm wondering who would spend time and energy waging the "cyber attacks" against this website? What is a cyber attack anyway?

Cyber attacks sometimes involve people setting up a program that keeps sending requests for the hosts web page to open. You can overload a server this way if you have enough bandwidth to send out that many. I'm curious too. I hate when the malicious little twits have nothing better to do than crash peoples servers or overwhelm their email servers with spam. I think they should all be sent to a remote island with no electricity.

I'm wondering attackers might be radical tree huggers coming at us on a new front. (Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean the SOB's aren't out to get me.)

Deep...Take a look at your personal firewall and watch how many times it gets hit. You would be blown away at how many times they try to get in. I deal with some massive denial of service attacks from China and various eastern European countries on a regular basis. They attack interfaces on large routers and attempt to shut down primary entry and exit points in upstate New York and New England. We can find them easier now and simply ignore their requests or blackhole the SOBs. The security risks to our national grid, DOD, FBI and other departments is staggering. Good thing the CIA is better than them. We steal 10Xs what is stolen from us. Regardless, we have a lot more to lose as a nation than they do.

Sorry to chop it up like that. Just a thought that they have a lot to lose if we go down the tubes. We pay them something on the order of $500 million a week in interest.

I guess that's an angle of national security I never saw. China can't afford to overthrow our government. They'd lose too much money.
