Glenn Beck scam on the troops

"If you look at Beck's 8/28 page "Restoring Honor," you see a nod to the SOWF, including a link to donate. ......But of course, nothing easily seen says just what the money is being used for. You have to scroll down to the fine print at the bottom of the page for this pearl:
"All contributions made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) will first be applied to the costs of the Restoring Honor Rally taking place on August 28, 2010. All contributions in excess of these costs will then be retained by the SOWF."
There you go - Beck is using people's emotion to pay for his little party. It may not be illegal, but it most definitely is despicable."
The entertainer doesn't even have a permit for this.

You left out some parts of the disclaimer. The full text reads as follows: This rally is compliant with IRS Rules and Regulations found in IRS publication 557 and IRS publication 4221-PC. For tax purposes a gift to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation is deductible in accordance with Internal Revenue Service's tax laws. No goods or services were provided in exchange for your contribution. The purchase of Restoring Honor Rally merchandise is not a donation to SOWF, but all net proceeds from the sale of Restoring Honor Rally merchandise is being donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. All contributions made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) will first be applied to the costs of the Restoring Honor Rally taking place on August 28, 2010. I find no problem paying for the costs of the rally with the donations first and then the rest going to the foundation. He has done a lot of pro bono work for this foundation in the past.
Actually the present administration, house, and senate could learn a lot. First, pay for what you've already got set up, instead of creating program upon program with money we don't have. At least this foundation won't have to rely on the Chinese for its programs. And, you know what you're getting for your donation. It's spelled out. Not like the programs where the liberals are saying, "We won't know what's in the bill until we vote on it". HOW IDIOTIC IS THAT??? They passed the healthcare bill this way and are now trying to pass the financial institution reform bill the same way. How about knowing what's in the bill before you vote for it???

As if this is something new? Happens to many bills in every administration....nothing new here. -Not saying it's right, mind you...just the way it is with big bills. All kinds of crap attached....100s of pages of amendments and add-ons to get it though.

Maybe you're reading into it more than I am, but I didn't see anything on that site that suggested he is paying for it or all the money goes to the cause. Every cause I've seen has overhead of some kind or another. If a cause starts getting into the "overhead" being huge (say more than 50%) of the donations, then I get suspicious.

He's scamming people to contribute who don't read his fine little print at the bottom to pay for his party in Washington for which he's got no permit.

However, the current administration is looking into starting to require permits, thus they would be able to PREVENT any type of rally they do not support!!!
Sounds fair doesn't it???

Huhhhh. According to the National Park Service, negotiations are still under way with Mr. Beck and his gang for a permit. Where did you get the information that a permit is not needed to assemble 10,000+ people at Lincoln Memorial National Park on a national holiday? What are your sources?
Lincoln Memorial National Memorial - Permits (U.S. National Park Service)
And you got this information where? Park Services rules and regulations have nothing to do with Obama. He may be able to shut him down with some obscure law like Regan did to the Beach Boys in 1983, but I doubt it. Sources.....?
"In 1983 the Beach Boys were banned from performing on the mall for the Fourth".....because the Regan administration thought they weren’t "wholesome" enough....What a joke....the Beach Boys for god's sake. And you were you saying what about the current administration preventing a rally????
