I'm not a fan of the topo software. If you ride in places that arent flat its just too much detail to display quickly. One thing I like about the MetroGuide is that it has the trails for National Forrest land. If you are interested in seeing what you get before you buy the software, Garmin makes it all publicly available on their site. They have a little web application that shows you every square inch of their maps.

Go here: http://www.garmin.com/cartography. Then in the upper right hand corner it says "Select a map product". This is only to view so that you know what you are buying.

I bought the garmin 76s and love it. Haven't bought any software yet. I love the looks of the DeLorme 3d Topo software, though no one can tell me if it can be loaded to the garmin unit. DeLorme says it can, but I'm not going to take a chance until I know for sure. Delorme also said I could return their software before 30 days for refund if it wouldn't load. Sounds like they just want to sell me a copy. Also I bought my garmin from gpsdiscount for 309.00 , and only took 2 days to get it.

you cant load the maps from DeLorme 3d topo onto gpsmap76s. You have to load garmin maps to garmin units. I have a 76s and it is awesome. Like TexMud said the metroguide maps are good, so are the garmin topo maps. I would compare the two. He likes metroguide better for riding, I like topo better you just need to look and decide for yourself. You should however be able to create waypoints and routes with the delorme software and download them to your gps just not the actual maps and vice versa. Hope that doesnt muddy the water to much.

Thanks for the info. I think as long as I can download routes and waypoints. I'm going to give the DeLorme products a shot.

Decided to go with metro usa v. 5.0 from mapsource and Topo USA 4.0 from DeLorme. Haven't got them in yet.
