I found regualar 15w- 50 car oil full synthetic at my local auto zone. They did not have the motorcycle oil. Would this be better than honda's non synthetic hp4 oil.

 

Go here for much better choices in synthetic oils, they have many different weights available.

Amsoil is cool, but the HP-4 is a semi snythic that makes the shifting smooth

 

I run the 15w50 Mobil 1 in my 400EX. I have been happy with it so far... I, personally think it is better than the Honda oil because it is a full synthetic (blend of level 4 PAO and level 5 ester base stocks). It also has no viscosity index improvers. I haven't experienced any appreciable difference in shifting smoothness with any of the oils I have tried in my EX, it shifts quite nicely with any of them so far.

AMSoil is a good level 4 PAO base stock oil as well. Some people are a little more loyal in recommending it because they are distributors and have good incentive in doing so .

Redline is one of the best, it is a pure level 5 Ester base oil.

 

I ride a 95' 300ex. I have always used Honda oil HP-4. Would you recomend Mobil 1 15w-50 Full Synthetic Oil for it. I would like to have the best protection possible for it. It was neglected by the previous owner..
Also.. when you say mobil 1 15w-50. You mean reguler Motor oil or Motorcycle oil.. please clarify a little ....thanks...
