i was on this web page for a dealer ship in wisconsin and they have this little review thing that lets you tell how you like the quad or scooter or snowmobile or what ever, but this one dude said he can beat the raptor 660 with his stock bombairdiar (or how ever you speel the dang thing) and i find it to be a whole load of crap, b/c its not likely that a 650 can beat a 660,

there is only a couple cc's difference between the two machines. Not enough to make a significant difference. But the torque and horsepower is what tells the story here. The DS650 puts out 10 more ponies than a Raptor and has more torque. Regardless of the 107 extra pounds on the Bomber's tail (until the '04's came out), the extra power in the Bomber motor is enough to pull it ahead.

I can honestly say that every Raptor that I have run against, I have edged them out by no more than a quad length in the 1/8 mile (unless the guy couldn't ride). Then it was more. They are very close in acceleration though. They both have their areas where they shine. But if you want to win a stock for stock drag race, with equal riders, the DS will win every time.

 

The Ds wins with equal riders. CC don't always mean faster. 440ex can beat a Ds 650.

If your theory is correct, my KFX700 beats everything, and ties a Prairie700. And the Pred500 should outrun every YFZ450. Better check that theory.

 

the DS will take a raptor stock to stock, and mod to mod!! think if bombidier made a lighter frame,the DS would smoke every thing!!

DaSandBomb, has any mag (or other independent source) done a "mod to mod" shootout between the DS and the Raptor? I am not saying you are wrong; I honestly don't know. I always assumed that the problem with the Raptor was a stuffed-up intake and exhaust. In other words, I thought that with equal modifications to the exhaust and intake of both machines that the Raptor would come out on top (better power-to-weight ratio). I can tell you that in the Snowmobile realm, Yamaha's are about 80 lbs. heavier than Skidoo's. Even though equal mods to each results in higher hp's for the Yamaha's, gaining a better P-to-W is hard without major/expensive chassis changes. Again, please do not take this as a cut.

 

Interesting thought. Why aren't people stuffing the DS engine into other quad frames?

probley because the ds motor is SO heavy, and it needs a BIG frame to put it in!
