i also have been looking at a few trucks. mostly dodge, because we get a family discount. but, it is a hard toss up between getting a diesel or a hemi. i have seen that hemi's have 345 stock hp and can be taken up to 500hp, but there goes the gas. and diesels are nice because they will last a lot longer, more torque and no plugs to worry about. well, i hope you find the right truck for you. just try to think about what you will mostly be doing with the truck and go from there. good luck.

The thing about diesel engines that really kind of makes me think is the cost. At around 5 grand the diesel option has to go to the pump many many times to make up for the lost money. a gain of 5-7 mpg would literally take years to make up the initial cost of the engine. And since most consumers dont keep a new truck more than 5 years, you would be extremely lucky to break even....Just something to think about.

I lookes a diesels but I don't know a thing on how to fix them so going with gas!!!! Like the 2004 chevy EXCEPT THE FRONT END HEAD LIGHTS "UGLY" really like the dodge not because of the hemi crap the looks and interior are real nice. I just haven't seen a new dodge lifted by a foot, so I'll be waiting to see which one will look better. plus who will give me a better trade-in!!! later fellas

Good Point but... You also have to consider resale value, look at a price guide and compare to the cost of the diesel option. This is where the diesel pays off. Resale is consistantly $3000+ higher unless you own an older GM with the 6.5L turbo {not the Duramax} these dont sell very well because they are the red headed stepchildren of the diesel world. Owning diesel doesn't really hurt as bad as you think.

Yes, thats true that resale is higher, but thats just a product of a higher retail price. A car that cost 25K new should we worth more than one that was 20k.
