How many people have never checked their valves and never had a problem? -OR- How many have never checked their valves and had a problem with the valves?
There are alot of people that don't read through the forums and have never heard about checking the valves. Some dealerships don't come out and tell the purchaser about valve adjustment. I was just talking with a friend that has had his quad for a few years and has never heard about valve adjustment. So how many of you have actually had a problem because nothing was done with your valves?

I have never done nothing to the valves nor has it been back to the dealer since I purchased the Recon over 4 years ago and it has about without looking 425 hours on it.

I check my valves when the bike gets hard to strat. Both my 425 and our Breeze need it about twice a yr.But these machines get rode VERY HARD and it seems that the intake valves tighten upafter we get the motors hotter than normal.Yet it is not a big deal to adjust.

I do them religiously, and way more often than the owners manual suggests! You would think the dealer would stress this, because it would mean lots of business for the service dept.?????????

I rode mine for a while and then I started getting a problem with the bike kicking back and dying. My buddy never adjusted his valves so I didn't worry about it too much. I was getting ticked that my bike wasn't running like it should so I figured I would give it a go... I figured that the intake valves were tight. Sure enough... they had no slack in them at all. Adjusted intakes and exhaust and haven't had a problem since. I rode it for probably 100 hours prior to this adjustment.

i haven't had my DS very long and really haven't checked to see how to adjust it's valves. the last dirt bike i had, a YZ426 needed the valves adjusted every couple of weeks if i was riding much or it just flat out would leave you stranded! it didn't have the auto decompression and you had to go through a drill to start it and if the valves were off it just made it twice as hard to start, and you couldn't even think about push starting it so you had to keep them adjusted. i need to check mine soon.

I have plain bad luck! I adjust my valves, change the oil etc all the time. My bike blew up when it was 3 days out of warranty.
Crazy neighbor girl has the same quad, never changes the oil and removed the air filter "for more power" and the stupid thing won't die.
