me and my dad went to go see his buddy that loves to custom build his cars, well when i walk in the door i see a 1930's car (no idea what the name of it is) but he is rebuilding this car for a guy that lives in a 2.5 million dollar house and he is putting 80 grand into his car that he bought for 20 grand,,, my dads buddy is fantastic at this stuff, and he must be good if some one would give him a car and say put some drag mods on it so i can call it an 8 second car, and then so the guy hands over a cashiers check that says 80,000, lol
any one on here have any sweet cars or know any one that does ?

You are right 9s are not easy on the street( 1/4 mile) but possible. It didnt happen overnight.
I run a 1968 427 4 bolt block with a forged 1053 crank, 4340 rods and TRW pistons at 10.75 to 1
Heads, GMPP Signature Series with 2.25 intakes and 1.88 exhaust , ported.
Intake, Weiand Team G
Carb, Holley Dominator
255 HP NOS system
Centerforce Clutch
"Super Case" muncie ( all aftermarket parts from end to end)
Ford 9 inch , 3.89 gears, N case, detroit locker Moser axles
The car has and after market front end ( Heidts) with tubular arms and disc, QA1 coil overs and fiberglass hood, bumber and carbon fiber inner fenders and related parts.
The rear is mini tubed for 12 slicks with S&W frame rails, 8 point roll bar.
custom leaf springs with sliders instead of shackles , CE shocks,

Nice Chevy II,
I have been looking around for a project car and really like the look of the first generation novas. However, their prices seem outrageous. Today I went and looked at a running six cylinder, four speed, 1963 two door for $3500. It had no trim, cracked rear window, and a terrible interior. When I think about the prices to get a car show ready, I almost cringe. Currently, I am thinking about getting a GM metric car (cutlass, regal, malibu) around here a non-running metric in nice shape is going for about $75. From what I've seen, they make great sleepers. Any ideas?

Yep First gen Nova are way over priced. I bought mine in 1984 and used it as a daily driver. Its a real SS and had a factory 283 / 4 speed. Paid $1500 for it !
If I was to do it today I would pick up a project some one has started and had to get "out of "due to money probles, divorce etc. Way cheaper that way. I think your choice of a metric GM is perfect, the price is great, any engine fits and the junk yards are full of parts with lots of interchange options.
A modern preped small block with good heads / intake , a mild th350 tranny and a set 8.5 rear with 3.90 gears will turn 12s all day long.

I have never heard of any big block making LESS than that !
A real 396 / 375 HP motor makes about 410 HP. ( with headers) . You can get 365 HP out of any 396, 402,427 or 454 using mostly stock parts, a nice intake headers and an aftermarket cam.
You can build a 540 HP 454 wit a set of STOCK Edelbrock heads, intake and cam and its very streetable
