Hello my family is going to go to need a trailer soon for our ATV's We need one big enough for 2 ranchers, 2 400ex's and 2 mini raptors. Any suggestions we dont really want enclosed. Just looking for a size to think about. We can put the raptors in the back of the truck also so i guess i just need one for 4. Thanks for the help.

 

Your best bet is to look at 4 place open bed snowmobile trailers. I would suggest one atleast 10x12. 10 feet wide might be a tight fit for 2 ranchers. So that is why I say atleast 10 feet wide, don't go narrower.

I have a 16X8' (floor space). I can get 4 full size bikes (sideways) on it, or 3 full size (sideways), and 2 kids bikes (side by side).

You need 4 full size and 2 minis, so you will need to be even bigger than that. One thing you see out here are two story trailers. A lot of people put the sand rails down on the bottom, and the quads up on top.

 

You might be able to get away w/that in Utah, but I believe most states the legal width is 8'6". Anything over that then you need permit, escorts and so on.

 

Get a 18' flat bed car trailer. It will carry all the ATVs you want plus be able to tow a car around when needed

As far as I know here you can have up to a 12 or 14 foot wide trailer. The only rule is that if it weighs more than 750lbs then you need to register it as a non-motorized vehicle.

 

Good for you. Not true for US in Ohio. Your trailer width, in Ohio, LEGAL width is 8'6". I know, because we ship steel. I work for a structual steel fabricator. We have shipped width loads as much as 21'-0" in depth. Now to do that we had to have three police escorts, permits, and shut roads down for passage. We are currently shipping 158'-0" long trusses. Now you can have overhang but you are limited to that too. So having said that, and with your comment, let me say it again, you might be able to get away with that in UTAH BUT NOT OHIO! NOT LEGALLY!

My advice is call your local/state transportation office or motor vehicle registration office, unless you know for sure. I'm just speaking of personal experience in the state of Ohio. Heck some states have frost times meaning that you can only carry loads during certain hours on the road and so on! Just trying to help out that's all. I've learned to not take any ones advice, except facts, in situations like this! Laws vary from state to state and that is obvious with this topic.

Do what you want. Hopefully, when you spend $$$ it has not been in vain.

 

I made a trailer out of an old pop-up. It was a 10 foot box. I lengthened to 12 feet. It is 12x7. It is perfect for three quads. You don't need a lot of width if you load the quads sideways. Most of the trailer manufacturers are making them this way. I'm sure you could find what you need online.
