Default Plastic Gas Tank Repair

Can anyone tell me how to repair my plastic gas tank. It has a small split at the bottom left hand of the tank and is leaking gas all over the engine, etc. Unable to ride my ATV because of this problem. The tank has been removed to make it easier to work on. I have tried the normal epoxy type products, they simply sill not stick to the plastic.

duck tape it. j/k. You can take the tank out and melt some plastiv over the crack then sand it down, i did that one time. or i guess you can put some kind of sealent over it, but if it isnt a crack (if theres a hole) a sealent might not work.

If you want to become a rich man, invent an adhesive that will work on polypropylene. As yet there is no such thing. There are 2 ways to cure the problem. The first is to replace the tank. The only other thing that will work is to weld the old tank. I use a good soldering gun and a strip of like material and weld the thing as you would weld steel with a welder. Takes some practice to get a good reliable bond but it can be done. If you attempt to weld it up, first flood the tank with water to avoid any unwanted explosions.
