I've read that the Casio 2000UX is the best bang for the buck, but I was only looking for the ones that take mini-movies (great for action footage), I think it is around $500US or will be soon, I would have prefered the Olympus 2020Z since I figured it might be a little more of a real camera and less of a toy, as well it seems to take better night pictures, it was $600, but they've stopped making it and the replacement 3000Z is $800 and complete overkill on resolution. The Sony DSC-F55 is another contender, or Mavica 83. They should all be around $500.
If you don't want the video I'd look at Canon S10, Kodak 280, they should be under $500
The floppy disks don't hold many hi-res pictures, you would be carrying around a few of them, I'm definitely going for at least a 16MB card with USB download.

I just saw the 30 today in a add, And was gona tell yea. But you beat me to it.
They are nice huu? When you get some more cash get the 64 meg stick. I also saw a 2gig stick on the display but nobody could confirm it exists. Probably only in Japan.
Did you notice you can zoom in on a pic in playback? Also looks like it will mount on a helmet reel nice.
Good ridding MPegs comin.
Let's suck up some bandwith!!!yehaa.
