Its people like that that give stupid treehuggers etc a reason to get our quads banned. It also says the kid was driving like a madman before that, why did he run a stop sign while passing a car w/o looking?? All it takes to ride a quad safe is common sence. Its a shame he died from it though.

Officer Mike Caver with the Fatal Accident Crash Team is the lead investigator
well this investigator shouldnt have too much to do... if i read this right, the article states that the dude was riding on the road (violation #1) with a passenger (violation #2) driving erratically (violation #3) not wearing a helmet (violation #4) passed a stopped vehicle on the right (violation #5) and was basically hit by the the coming car, a 1986 blazer.

now i understand that some of us may have to ride on the road briefly, and at times carry a passenger, but you are not to do either carelessly, especially when the road intersects and may be heavily traveled.

now, im sorry for him and his sister and family that it happened and that he is gone and the sister is injured, but my God, this kid was asking for trouble. He was showing off. And as harsh as it sounds- it was his fault and the whole thing could have beed prevented.

As easy as you think the investigation might be, It won't be that easy. I'm sure his report will be quite lengthy, and full of details that the media did not put in the newspaper article. I applaud the newspaper for not attacking the atv industry.

This was a tragedy that could of easily been avoided. ATV's for the most part, don't belong on the same road as vehicles!!

As I look at the names of people who have replied to this particular thread, I don't recognize anyone from past threads about the topic of riding atv's on public roadways. I pray that those of you who feel this can't and won't happen to you, to THINK AGAIN.

Ride safe where you legally can
