thanks man i was looking for some data like that.
i see howard dean's old state of vermont is near the bottom. that's b/c that jack@ss took away the people's places to ride. so do you see the correlation, not just by population, that the states with the highest number of acreage/trails to ride on also has the highest atv sales??? we need to keep our riding areas open.

Do you happen to know the stats on how many machines each manufacture sold last year?
Just for comparison purposes.............
2004 ATV sales expected..............816,474
2004 Dirtbike sales expected.......311,992
2004 Streetbike sales expected...612,590
IF these figures hold out to be somewhat close, and they usually are, the ATV market will no longer get to claim that we buy more than dirtbike and streetbike riders combined.
While ATV sales have been on the rise, motorcycle sales have really taken off!!

BigBadScrambler,
I have been working on exactly what you ask of for the last 3 weeks.
The problem with individual numbers by brand is that Bombardier, ArcticCat, and Polaris [for reasons they only know] do not release hard data figures. They will say that sales are up by blah, blah%, but never any numbers.
Honda,Yamaha,Kawasaki, and Suzuki release numbers, but only for your sales region and there is no way to gain acess to the national numbers. The exception ofcourse, is when they know they smoked the competition and then you see it every magazine you pick up....LOL
I'm not sure exactly why it's setup this way. The motorcycle sales are easily gathered with a few phone calls.
I'm working out something right now with a friend of mine at Honda for their numbers, but I don't know how far my project will go.
I will keep you guys informed and when I get something concrete to post that will not come back to haunt me, I will put it here.
