My wife wants me to get her her own quad but I'm not to sure of which one to get her. I trail ride and play in the mud, so I'm looking for something small that will do both chores.
My wife is small (5ft,110lbs) and she has a hard time with my 454 if it ain't going straight!
So if anybody has a small woman with her own quad, I'd like to hear what they ride.
Thanks in advance and have a really muddy day..

It depends your wife. If she likes too shift, get her a red Honda Recon 250, if she doesn't, get her a 250 Polaras trail boss or something..... good luck!

My wife is about the same size as yours, we bought a 220 Bayou for her, I wanted her to look at a Recon..but she really liked the feel of it...and this was going to be her decision, she was riding it, not me.....you know how that can go. She really likes the feel of her Bayou and so far it's been pretty good to her. I would take a good hard look at the Recon though.

Good Luck

Greetings,

The Recon and TrailBoss were the two I considered for wife and other smaller casual riders. But neither are four-wheel drive so she may not be able to keep up with you in the mud. To get a smaller four-wheel drive machine, you will probably have to go up about a grand in price. The Rancher has a lighter touch and the Prairie 300 or Bayou might work our well too.

Try the Polaris Xplorer 250 4x4 I paid 4300 for my 2000 model my girlfried loved to drive it. I swapped it for a 2000 Sportsman. It is really nice, quick and easy to drive. she is 5 foot 3.

We looked at the Bayou, Beartracker & Recon. My wife liked the feel of the Recon better. She is 5'4" & 115 pounds. This quad goes everywhere, but if you do a great deal of mudding, look at a small 4x4.

I went through the same thing about a month ago. My Future wife (aug. 12) is 5'2" 100 pds. and the recon was perfect. I really liked the trailboss, being an auto, but the thing was WAY too big for her. I mean, it towered over my 400ex. She picked up shifting the auto clutch quickly. I looked at the bayou as well, but didn't like the front suspension setup; and it was a bit too small. If I had known that kawasaki was putting out the lakota sport (auto clutch sport model) I may have gotten that. All in all, she loves the recon. Mud? I'm not sure it would do well.

We purchased two AC,s 500 & 300.My wife really likes the 300.It is easy to turn, has the independent suspension, large tires, and good ground clearence.
My wife is only 105 lbs and 5" tall
At first she did not know if she would like shifting, but after a few times out she loves it.

Your wife is 5 inches tall?
lol

The recon is an excellent mudder for being 2wd. But also I would strongly suggest the xplorer 250 4x4.
