You'll like the Oury grips, they are very comfortable (no blisters!) and last a long time.

Default Need grips for the raptor.

Forgot to ask, what is the best way to make the grips stick to the bars? I have read everything from hairspray to electrical tape/gasoline. Or should I go get some grip glue?
They should be here today and I want to make sure they don't move so I can ride tomorrow.

I've found electrical tape and gasoline to work excellent. Wrap the bar with one layer of black electrical tape, fill the grip with gasoline, wait 10 sec, dump out the gasoline, and slide the grip on the bar/tape. The gasoline eats some the electrical tape and it bonds to the grip pretty tight. If you are racing, safety wire on the grips is always mandatory.

how long does it take to cure? I tried your suggestion and I checked on it about an hour later and there was still a little play in it. You think it will completely dry overnight and be ready for tomorrow?
I also went ahead and bought some 3M adhesive spray from wal mart just in case.

It should have set up in less than an hour, did you wait a long time between dumping the gas out of the grip and sliding in over the bar? If you have spray glue and it's not tight by morning, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

I put it on the bar within 30 seconds. I'll go check it later tonight and if it's still loose, I'll just start over again. Just wonder what could have gone wrong.

Well, I won't be riding today. I tried the 3m adhesive spray and let it sit overnight (10 hours). Just checked it this morning and you could twist it easily so I took them off. Strange thing about the electrical tape and gasoline was that I let it sit for ~3 hours and when I pulled the grips off, the tape was in perfect condition, no bonding had occured at all. Not saying the people that have used this method are wrong, just that i didn't have the same experience.
I probably should have stuck with the hairspay and just let it sit overnight. I only let it sit for about 2 hours and when I checked, one side was pretty loose, the other side was holding better. But I wasnted to try the electrical tape/gasoline method to be sure.

Not sure what to try now. Guess I'll clean the bars with alcohol and pour some inside the grip to try and break-down the 3m adhesive and then maybe get some grip glue???????????????????.

I just put on some spyder grips and i love them!! I used brake cleaner and they will not come off!!!! I was very suprised about the brake cleaner its awsome!! Try it out and dont be afraid to use alot. I filled my grips up to the top with it then poured it out and put them on asap and wait like an hour and they will not come off!!!!

Best grips I have ever used are Renthal ATV grips, Medium compound. No waffles.........I put these on every quad I get now, and I recommend them to everyone I talk to. Also....the easiest way to put grips on is grip glue! Renthal also makes a good glue, so I just use that........my grips never come off, and they are easy to put on. You just have to get them where you want them within 30 seconds or they set.

That whole gasoline/tape thing just sounds messy and way more of a pain in the butt than grip glue.......

All the local shop had was Scott's grip glue so I tried that. Put them on earlier today and I'm not even gonna touch them until the morning. I read some people saying that renthal glue was better but it was all they had.
If this doesn't work i'm selling the raptor.

OK, maybe not but I never thought putting grips on could be this frustrating.
