Looking to get kids (2 boys, aged 6 and 8) new game console. Looking at X-Box, Game Cube and PS2 , am leaning to a Game Cube because the games are less violent. Most of these systems seem more complicated to play than to fly a 747
Any thought would be appriciated.

PS2.

Best games, most fun. If you dont want them playing violent game, just check the ratings on the games. Some games are hard, but they have a ton of kids games too. Even educational ones.

I have a PS2 and like it. But, if I were to buy a new system, it would definately be the X-Box. One of my friends mods them with 120 Gig harddrives and many other features. He puts emulators on it and has over 3000 super Nintendo games, plus Sega, regualr Nintendo, Nintendo 64, so on so on. His X-box can store over 40 games on the harddrive and plays and loads them faster than a regualr X-box. That, and when he wants a new game, he rents it, burns it, and loads it on the X-box. WAY COOL!!!

I'm pretty happy with the ps2...the only bad thing is I bought it when it first came out so I paid a small fortune.. but there are tons of games that arn't violent..you just have to check the rating. the x-box is pretty fun but I still like my p2 better.

The Xbox is probably a better choice. I've noticed it comes with 2-3 games for 150 bucks. When I bought the Ps2 (only because I had the Ps1) I think it was 200 bucks with out a game and only one controller. I was introduced to Halo2 and now I want an Xbox. The Ps2 has ratings on the games to help weed out the more violent games. I have a 7 (soon to be 8) year old boy who love the Ps2, I dont think he would care one way or another if we got any of the consoles. He has adapted to the controls very fast and is some good competition in the sports games. It's amazing what he has learned from playing such games. I dont know much about the game cube so sorry cant help there. Any of the game consoles you buy will give hours of entertainment and put smiles on there faces. Good luck.

PS2-- in my opinion has a better choice of games, just better. Not the best graphics I know, but simple unlike that confusing X box controller....(to me at least)

I'd say Gamecube... Out of all the systems i've heard the fewest problems for it. Xbox and PS2 both have drive issues, anybody who denies that, your lucky. The choice of games is more limited but again you have more kid friendly games. The controller is smaller, which is better for smaller hand. Its light and small which will make it more convenient to hide (incase they get in trouble hehe) and its perfect for traveling!
