Default I got an atv for christmas!

i just turned 16 yesterday, but on christmas day my dad came up to me and my brother and said " oh i almost forgot these, and it was a pair of hjc cs x2 helmets. then we went out into the garage to discover a 04 honda foreman Es 450, we have something to use deer hunting now, but is there a break in period? for the utility, i know there is for the sport, and my old 400ex, that is long gone and dead.

did anyone else here get an atv?

but just thought i'd tell you!

Swweeeeet. Be easy with it for a few hours, then, giver hell. Ride it like you are planning on riding it forever. That's what I did, and my Grizz has fourty hours on it and runs great.

I have to disagree, I think you should ride them how you are going to normally. Just make sure to change your oil within a 15 hour window or so. Ive always done this and have had very good reliability.

Cedar creek motor sports in cedarburg, is where my dad got it, and after the first 20 hours of use it needs to go in a get a check over of every possible thing, from tire pressure, to trans, the full life time service guarentee is about 300 dollars, its a good deal, we have insurance so its all good, my first time riding it, it was good, i didn't find the top speed, i only got up to 35 on our straight away (863 feet running into forest) but i imagine it can get into the 50's in 5th gear, it has some power, the accidental wheelie in 2nd and early 3rd are always unexpected, doesn't really do the wheelie until i down shift to slow down when i cross our paved drive way to get to the other side, i try to stay off the drive way as much as possible to reduce tire wear.

real nice atv,

but then we have real idiotic neighbors, we got an atv for christmas and then a day or two later we see the neighbors with one, not as good as ours though but um they have 3 70,000 dollar trucks, 2 tow trucks, a 30,000 dollar tractor, and 2 jet skis two snowmobiles, and i swear they have everything stashed some where, they have everything that we are planning on getting and then bring it out when we get it to annoying the hell out of us, and they moved in right where my best friend moved out, and we all have about 8 acres of land, but he bought the house for 478,000 dollars, and then tore half of it down and rebuilt it bigger, and more garages.

well, what the heck can i do about it, he didn't exactly move into the best neighborhood either. the neighborhood is full of fellow atvers. then he moved in and wants a ban on all sport quads.

peace

first of all yes theres break ins on all new bikes 2 and 3 and four wheelers. just warm it up, then ride till you get used to it ,then take a nice ride for a few hours ..then you can ride the he$$ out of it but be gentle not gentle though for at least 10 hous least amount for break in but never open it up till atleast 10-15 hours why the parts are new and you will get a liilte bit off metal in the oil because its getting the little pieces that the manufacture didnt get off the parts bearing an so on need time to get oiled and fluids built in them for they dont get over heated and break after 10 hours change oil then you are set

Dude, congrats. I'll tell you, like I tell my boys. Get a shop manual and learn your machine inside out. Treat it right and it'll treat you right. One of the biggest factors in how much enjoyment you get from it, will be how well it runs and how fast you can diagnose problems and get her running again. I know a lot of folks who buy their kids bikes and quads that get abused and usually don't run consistantly. I takes the fun out of it if it doesn't run when you want to ride....I'm like the nieghborhood mechanic for about 5 different kids around here. I try to teach them all to learn their machine and treat it right.....

i know engines pretty well and can fix them pretty quick, mechanics run in our bloodline, but i was riding for 30 minutes last night till dark, and i know how to power slide now its easy, i take it easy i don't give the atv too much rpm for its first take of gas, it has about 35 miles on its first tank of gas.

i love it when i get to drive it and my brother doesn't, thats his fault for staying home sick this week, more fun for me, hes home from school today, so tonight i ride more, i told my dad i'm going to extremely good care of the atv, i have to gain my dads trust so he'll let me ride with out watching me, but it if it keeps snowing like it is now here in wisconsin, we won't have school tomorrow, their calling for 1 to 11 inches.

thats great,

is it alright to ride an atv in the snow? will anything rust? i won't be riding on pavement so there will be no salt on the atv, but its all good i think, time to test out the 4 wheel drive!!!
