potato guns

Hey, any of you guys ever made one of these things. They are so awsome. I made one today and it shoots atleast 350ft in the air. What i did was get a 2 inch pipe. Use a 2 in to 4in reducer and made the chamber about a foot long. Put a screw on cap on the back. For ingnition i have to screws drilled in so that they are just about touching each other. I use a grill starter with the wires to the screws and that makes the spark. Spray some cheap hairspray in there and caboom. this thing fires of. So far i only shot a couple potatos. Most of the shots ive used a golf ball wrapped in duck tape to fit the barrel. You guys need to make one of these because they are fun as heck.

Yup, I got one. Made it out of PVC pipe. Barbecue igniter for ignition and spray antiperspirant for the juice. Launches spuds a lonnnnnng way! I beveled the end of the barrel on the lathe at work so that it cuts the spud when you ram it on the end of the barrel. Makes a perfect fit so none of the propellant gets out. It's a lot of fun.

I had several of these once. Had long barrel, short barrels, large and small chambers. My favorite was my 4.5FT barrel with 1.5FT 4 inch combustion chamber. I shot through my buddies oldsmobile radiator with it!!!!! They are simple to make and I can try and make plans for you if you want, just PM me. I do prefer the Coleman lantern type igniters over the BBQ igniters, they are more reliable, in my experience.

A guy up at the lake had one and shot raquetball *****. They fit perfectly in the barrel. Went a mile. Be careful with that kind of thing, if your fuel and barrel pressure exceed the strength of the combustion chamber you might be hauled off to ER.

Be carefull and never ever use starting fluid or anything other than hairspray as propellent!
