I'm thiinking of sponsoring one of the little special olympic kids...he's a hurdler and they call him Mungo....he really doesn't "hurdle" so much as drive his wheelchair through the hurdles....man can that kid go!!!
He's going to wear a shirt that says "Champ's! The Waterhead's Watering Hole!!"

Staying with this theme, I was at my boys Basketball game the other day and my nephew with Downes was sitting next to me. Well this other kid with "problems" comes stumbling, drooling on over and says something to me that I cant understand, so I say "Hi, how are you?" And this time he plainly says, "I feel like crap!" I was like ok, then his momma called him away.

Downs kids always seem like the happiest people. Every one of them I have ever met has made me smile. They just have an innocence about them that makes you remember what in life is important.

He is a good kid, he just needs more family attention. He is in a family with 2 other regular kids and they get way more attention. I feel so bad for him, and honestly think he would be better off with us. His mother is not emotionally stable. He has been lost a few times. Talk about scary, you get a call saying we cant find Dante'!!! He was found walking down the road one time quite aways from the house. Most recently he was walking around the woods with his grannys dogs, but granny did not know where he was. He is like 10 y/o and just has not had enough teaching to understand things. Me too, and what can I do, the best I can do is what I do. Take time to go get him and have him hang with us for a few hours. Its hard because he goes to his granny's to see his dad on the weekends, but his dad pretty much wants nothing to do with him, but his granny does, so he stays with her and if his dad comes over to see him, he does. Man that's weak, there are a lot worse things in the world than to have a special needs child, and his parent's got off easy in the grand scheme of things. They have a child that indeed needs more attention and care, but there are many Down's kids that end up being more productive that some able minded people out there.
Keep it up dumass, you are making a long term difference in that boy's life.
