i just bought a 1984yamaha tri moto 225 it has a electric starter but i cant get it to start the motor... it seems strange to me , it will pull start all day long , it doesnt have a battery or cables and i cant even see where the battery was monted ,the starter has no wires on it at all , i ran jumpers from my truck battery to the starter and it seems to work just fine as far as turning the motor over but it wont fire i pulled the spark plug and it doesnt get fire when the starter is turning it over but if i pull the rope starter it gets spark ?? any ideas ??

Might want to see if you can find a Clymer manual for one that will show you where the battery should go and the wiring, possibly. Someone obviously removed all of the starter wiring. At least you'll need wires from the battery for the ground, then to the starter solenoid, then down to the starter.
The reason it starts on a pull start is that the magneto provides power to fire the spark plug as the motor spins. The pull start is there for when the battery is dead, or in your case, non-existant.

dude check under your seat or under your back fenders for a place where it was welded or you can tell there was a piece of metal there maybe the holder or whatever you wanna call it the thingy that held the battery broke and the guy just took the batery out and just said sqrew or behind where your licence plate goes
