Quad cost VS car cost
#1
I just noticed this the other day and thought it was kind of interesting.
I saw an add from a local car dealer for a Kia Rio for $8000. This is a bottom of the line no-frills car.
Then I thought about how much top-of-the-line quads sell for. In a recent article in Dirt Wheels where it talked about the new Bombardier 800, it mentioned that it would probably be "competitively" priced at $8600.
This seems pretty amazing to me that you can buy a car (even a low-end one) for less than a high-end quad. I mean even a cheap car is about 4 times the size of a big quad and has many more complex parts. For example: dual airbags, heating system, 4 cylinder engine, windows, doors, and stereo system are not found on quads. The Kia Rio even comes with a 10-year drivetrain warranty. Try to find that with a quad! There is no way that a car costs less to build than a quad, is there?
I guess this just reinforces what I've always thought--The best VALUES in anything are found at the low end.
So while there is no question that the quad is more FUN to drive than the car, the car is worth more to most people if you could only have one or the other. Markups and dealer profits are much higher at the top end. I doubt the $8000 Kia Rio makes the car dealer any money at all. I wonder how much the Bombardier dealer will make selling an $8600 quad?

yeah, quads defninently are getting spendy!
only reason i'd use a car tho is to go get more gas for my quad
but thats also a new car!
used car's are just as cheap as used quads now.

all of the quads listed in my sig are worth more then my 88' jeep right now :S
and you also have to look at the depreceation value of the two also...two years a quad is probably worth 5/8 of what you paid for it, while a car holds its value loner
